About Pete

Pete Durrant grew up in London where he was a chorister at Westminster Abbey, singing in many high profile events such as the funeral of Princess Diana and touring worldwide. In 2004, Pete moved north to study music at The University of Manchester, studying piano under Tom Scott and was awarded the Proctor Gregg prize at the end of his second year. In 2010 Pete completed a Masters in Piano Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music studying under Jeremy Young and Colin Stone.

Over the past few years he has also been the conductor of The University of Manchester’s chamber choir, Ad Solem, the principal accompanist of Manchester University Chorus and has accompanied the Halle and Halle Youth Choirs under Sir Mark Elder amongst others.

Pete now works at the RNCM, accompanying for singing lessons, classes, performances and end-of-year recitals, he has performed in many venues in the city, from the Bridgewater Hall to Rochdale Parish Church and is in demand as a piano, vocal and theory teacher in the south Manchester area. Last summer, Pete worked with the BBC, playing the piano for the 'Come and Sing' Prom events as part of the BBC Proms 'Choral Sundays' at the Royal College of Music in London and at the Royal Albert Hall under the directorship of Paul Spicer, Mary King, Anna Flannagan and David Hill. He also worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra Chorus playing for rehearsals for a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
